Polish course A1 — why the first hours decide everything that follows
At A1 the point is not to learn as many words as possible. It is to pronounce them correctly from the start and build sentences on the right pattern — because mistakes that set in during the first weeks come back for years. The most common example is the letter Ł, which English speakers often read as an English „l” when it actually sounds like „w” in „water”. Corrected at the start, this takes a few lessons.
How many words are enough to start speaking
Fewer than you think. For simple conversations in a shop, at the doctor or with family, a few hundred words are enough — provided you can decline them and fit them into a sentence. That is why our A1 programme is not a vocabulary list: every block of vocabulary is tied immediately to a grammatical structure and practised in dialogue.
The seven cases are less alien than they look
Polish declension looks intimidating to English speakers because English lost most of its case endings centuries ago — but you already use them without noticing: „he” versus „him”, „who” versus „whom”. Polish simply does this for every noun and adjective. At A1 we introduce the cases gradually and always through concrete use; the full, systematic declension is the job of the A2 course.

Common questions about the A1 course
Are lessons held in person?
No. Polski360 is an online-only school — we do not run in-person classes in any city. All lessons take place over the internet, on interactive Miro boards with audio and video. That means you can learn from anywhere in Poland or abroad.
Do I need to know any Polish to start?
No. The A1 course begins with the alphabet, pronunciation and first greetings — we assume you know nothing at all.
Does the teacher speak English?
Yes. In the early lessons your teacher can explain difficult points in English, so you are never left guessing. As the course progresses that becomes less necessary and lessons shift increasingly into Polish.
How quickly will I speak in full sentences?
You build simple sentences from the first lesson. Speaking freely about yourself, your family and your daily routine usually comes after 25–35 teaching hours, depending on how much you practise between lessons.
How much does the A1 Polish course cost?
One-to-one it is 880 zł per month, which is 9900 zł for the full 90-hour course. In a pair it is 720 zł per month per person, so 8100 zł per person. Payment is monthly, with nothing paid upfront.
Is there a certificate examination at A1?
State certificate examinations for adults start at B1. The requirements for A1 are, however, set out in the ministerial regulation, and that material is also tested in the B1 exam.
Do I have to pay for the whole course upfront?
No. You pay month by month and can stop at any time — we refund the value of any unused lessons. Unlike schools that require payment for an entire semester in advance, you take no financial risk with us.
Do you offer group courses?
For English-speaking learners we offer one-to-one lessons and lessons in a pair. Group courses are not available in this segment — one-to-one lets us set a pace and focus built entirely around you.

Yes. You buy no textbooks separately, and access to the materials on the Miro boards stays with you after the course ends.
